Pope bagged only his fourth Millers league and cup goal after signing last summer, but boss Moore was delighted for him.
Speaking to the media, Moore said: "Popey has worked his socks off, he has won a lot of headers and I thought he was tiring but we kept him on and what a great finish, and what a time to get it.
"I am pleased for Popey because I think that is his first league goal since August. Hopefully they will be like buses and it will keep happening for him. There are still little parts of his game that need improving but his endeavour and enthusiasm are second to none, all he needs to do now is polish up on his touch and hopefully the goals will follow."
Moore continued: "It was a typical derby game both sides had half chances, I felt that we had the better of the chances and I think we probably just shaded it.
"I have won here as manager of Tranmere but the number of times I have come here with Rotherham and heard 'you'll never beat the Spireites', it is cemented in my head! I felt like singing something back at the end but I thought 'better not or I will get locked up!'"
