Speaking to the post match press conference, Ronnie admitted that his team didnt deserve the lead when they went in at half time; "I told the lads at half time that we were very fortunate to the one up, theres no doubt about that, they got on the ball and passed it ok and the pitch was better in their half to do that type of thing."
"You can't defend the way we defended! They scored the first goal from our throw in 10 yards inside thier half. How the hell is it in the back of our net from there? Then we made a wrong decision for the second, we're trying to play keepy up with the ball and the ball goes out of play. Then we're asleep from the throw in and we've been punished. Its bitterly dissapointing if you can't defend and we didnt do that today."
Ronnie also didnt have any complaints about Nick Fenton's straight red card for a two footed challenge; "I've no complaints, it was a stupid decision. They've just got back into the game at 2-1 and it's hard enough 11 v 11 but down at ten men your just hanging on for 20 mintues but it was'nt to be."
"But on another day we might be 5 up by the time they get the goal because some of the missed are incredible, you look at alfie - he sticks 2 in the back of the net when he gets his chances, but the others its rediculous! you cannot miss the chances that we have in a game and expect to win too many games."
"You've got to be able to defend, to have 3 of your back 4 not quite on it your going to be in trouble no matter who your playing. I thought the second goal was so important, who ever scored it could go on and win it, and we got it and the we get suckered into defending the way we defended. Some of the decision making at the back was awful today."
Ronnie also saved some of his displeasure for the attacking players, barring Alfie, who he wished he had more like him; "It was a great finish but thats what he's about, and I'd love him to be on the other ones that went begging cos we'd have been five up. The other lads at this present time can't hit a barn door. It just doesn't look like anybody else is going to score, so with that problem up there and the problem at the back then you have got problems - theres no doubt about that."
"You can go overboard a little bit cos your frustrated, your wanting to be automatically promoted and if your 2-0 up at home and the good sides dont let sides come back, no disrespect to Burton but we should be killing sides off. If we want to finish in the top three we have to beat the sides like Burton and we didnt do that today."
Ronnie looks ahead and rues the face that he will be missing Nick Fenton for the next three games; "The games are coming thick and fast now and obviously we're a centre half short, thats a frustrating thing for me, theres been no thought or anything he's just gone straight through and took the lad out, it's going to make it hard for us, theres no doubt about that."
