Hello there, Who are yer and how long have you supported the Posh?
My name is Danny Marsh, and I have supported POSH from the same spot on the terraces of London Road for 28 years man and boy.
What made you support your club?
My Dad was a Leeds fan from the south coast in the seventies (I do not get why either!) and we moved up to Peterborough. Somehow he got to be friends with a player called Trevor Quow, a bit of a legend down here, and started to take me to London Road. I was hooked from day one.
Whats your favorite away day and why?
Notts County. The stadium for this level is superb. We have a small rivalry with County now. We always seem to take 2000+ fans with us, so the atmosphere is always electric.
Whats your proudest moment being a Peterborough Fan?
Hard this one as we haven't done much. But for me it was play-off final at Wembley 1991/1992 season. We played Stockport, and took double the fans they took. They had a perfectly good goal disallowed. Then at the death of the match, "King" Kenny Charlery lobbed the keeper. Pure magic. I lost my voice for three days from the endless screaming and singing, and got bollocked by college for going in on Monday with a blue painted face.
And your most embarassing / disappointing?
The moment Barry Fry walked into London Road to manage us and then buy the club.
So who is your main rival?
This question always depends on the supporters age. Traditionally our rivals are Northampton. But for fans of my generation it's definately Cambridge United, or Scumbridge as we prefer to call them. They are in the conference at the moment. I hope they get promoted so we can play them again as I miss Derby day.
If Peterborough was a Song, what would it be, and why?
Up until this season, Down, down - Status Quo. We always stayed down or went down.
But this season I'd say Daydream Believer - Monkees. Now we seem to have found a few quid down the back of the sofa the fans are starting to believe.
Whos your all time favorite player, and why?
"King" Kenny Charlery. Bought by God himself, Chris Turner from non-league Maidstone at the last stroke of midnight on transfer deadline day. The man took his time to get going, but once warmed up the man scored and scored. He always gave me good tips down the bookies as well. I once proposed to his mother on a supporters coach leaving Wembley. I jumped off our coach and got on a private coach with all his family on after the play-off final. I proposed, then realised my coach had gone in the opposite direction, and I was heading for West Ham where all his family lived. I never ran so fast chasing my coach with my little dumpy legs.
What's happening with this takeover??
Well it should be completed in the next few weeks. DMac (Darragh MacAnthony) is the chairman already and running the club like he owns it anyway. The man has been a revelation. Ambition, drive and cash to back it up. Premiership here we come.
What's your feelings on Barry Fry?
He's hated by most POSH fans, including me. I appreciate him saving the club numerous times selling property and remortgaging his house. If he had just done that I would of liked the man. But, he held on too long trying to be Chairman, owner and manager. It cost us, and the club as the fans have disappeared.
How's former Miller Guy Branston doing? Is he still a nutter?
I love this guy (no pun intended). He's like this immovable object at the back. I swear blind we just built a wall in the box overnight and put a POSH shirt on it. No nonsense player who gives the more skillful defenders confidence to play their own game.
Where's the money come from for your £1m bid for Izale McLeod?
DMac - the man is putting his own personal fortune where his mouth is. I think you better hold on this January and see just how much we are gonna spend. And if promoted this year he's gonna spend another small fortune in the summer. We've been labelled the Chelsea of lower league football, and probably with good reason. He wants to do a Wigan and get POSH in the premiership within eight years with a new out of town stadium.
The Ron Manager programme, was it good for the club?? Did the club get much money for doing it?
Yes, two-fold. £200,000 initially from Sky TV. But DMac's father was watching the programme and called his son and told him to watch it. That's how he chose to buy POSH. So thank's Sky, but we would prefer never to see Ron Atkinson again. If they choose to do it again, pray it's not the Millers turn!!!
One player from this division you would like in your team, and why?
Ian Craney from Accrington Stanley. I've liked this midfielder for many years. I think he's a superb worker, can play some lovely football and scores too. He's already scored 6 this season. Not bad for a midfielder.
Worried about losing any players come the January sales?
No. Before DMac came along, I would of imagined we'd of sold Danny Crow. But I think we could afford to replace him now, so definately no.
Who's your strongest / Weakest link?
Strongest - Mark Tyler. A great servant to the club and a talented keeper. If he's been a foot taller he would of been in the premiership.
Weakest - Jude Sterling. Just a one trick pony. He can throw the ball for about seven miles, but defend - Never!
Predicted Line-up?
Tyler, Holden, Arber, Branston, Sterling, Huke, Butcher, Newton, Crow, Benjamin, Maclean.
Predicted Score?
1 - 0 to the POSH.
Whos going up??
POSH, Wycombe, Lincoln and then not sure.
And finally. Steak & Kidney, Meat & Tatty or Balti??
Meat and Tatty by a country mile.
