Sheffield United's 20 Questions part 3

Last updated : 10 December 2004 By Bigrich.....

Who are you; where are you from and how long have you supported your club?
My name is Paul Holland and have supported the Blades since I was around eight years old.

What was your first game?
The first game that I can ever remember going to was an FA Cup game at home to Blackburn Rovers during the 1992/93 season. The game ended 2-2, though United went through via penalties.

Describe the most memorable and worst game you’ve seen and why?
A lot of games have been played during the 12 years I have supported the Blades so have quite an achieve of games that I have seen. However the best game I can say I have ever seen would be the 4-3 win over Forest in the 2003 Play-Offs.
My worst, would be the following game when United lost 3-0 to Wolves in the final.

Who do you consider as your current local rivals, and why?
Wednesday, Rotherham and Barnsley obviously!
They are all local sides for which we have played many games between each other at full competitive level so is only natural that there is a strong rivalry with each other.

Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
Best: Michael Brown – Oh load has the ability to change a game with one pass and his free kicks are something to be afraid of.
Worst: Bobby Ford and Georges Santos – Cannot run, neither pass nor shoot.

Sedgy
Which current or former Rotherham player impressed you most?

Chris Sedgwick, I was quite relieved to have seen him move before we meet. I think he could have been the Thorne in our squad if he was still with the Millers.

How did you fare last season?
Terrible, though how do you top two semis and a defeat in the play-offs?

How do you think you’ll do this season?
At the beginning of the season I tipped United to finish 8th, or there abouts. I still think this, though if a better striker was to come in then possibly we may make the Play-Offs.

So what do you think of Rotherham?
The Team or the Town? Seriously the Millers will have as lot to do if they are to avoid relegation and I personally cannot see them doing it. Rotherham have been typecast as ‘Ale House Brawlers’ which speaks for itself, the long balls may keep United at bay.

Is your manager barking mad?
Yes!

So does Colin embarrass you? Some of the stuff he says makes me laugh!
No, ok so he does say a lot and slates the referee a lot, this you must admire. Not a lot of managers make ‘comments’ about the officials for fear against being fired, in fact Neil only a day before our encounter had been brought against the FA after and incident regarding the Watford league cup game.

Casino!  For or against?? And Why
For, as a City point of view it will create between 2,500 to 3,000 new jobs and of course decreasing the unemployment figures. As a football point of view it will only be good for the fans if United are making money out of it and thus creating more revenue and the chance to buy better players.

Are you happy with your Chairman/Backroom staff?
Yes, at the moment they seem to be doing a fantastic job, though more money does need to put in for more players.

Which team do you want to beat the most this season and why?
All of them, that way we will be guaranteed promotion. On a serious note would have to say that Leeds is the biggest team we would like to beat.

What sort of line-up can we expect from you?
Ian Bennett has arrived from Birmingham and will start on Saturday, so expect:
Bennett
Bromby  Jagielka  Morgan  Geary
Liddell  Quinn  Tonge  Harley
Gray Shaw

Predicted score?
Sheffield United to win 2-0 and Andy Gray as first goal scorer.

Who's going up?
1. West Ham
2. Wigan
3. Leicester

Who's going down?
22. Rotherham
23. Gillingham
24. Brighton
