Internet Millers Programme Article- Blackpool

It was our first outing since our successful summer exploits and we were keen to get off to winning ways and make a real challenge on the league this year. We have a good record over Wednesday in recent matches and started brightly enough with many chances being created. We couldn’t find the finishing touches though so were extremely frustrated when we went behind after a defensive lapse. That goal took the wind out of our sails in terms of the performance but we were still creating chances at will so it was astonishing that the game entered the second half with us still behind. It got worse for us as our rivals doubled their lead after another mistake at the back.

We realised it was time to get our act together and show the quality we know we have and after a tactical switch we got ourselves back in to the game. A deep corner from Gaz found Steve unmarked at the far post and he had no difficulty in nodding home. Almost straight from the kick off we were level and it was a good goal too. A nice passing move saw the ball end up out wide to JV. He whipped in a cross for Jammer at the back post to side foot home.

The quick turnaround was soon complete when we took a lead that we felt was justified. Steve broke free and beat at least three Wendy defenders before shooting for goal from an acute angle. His shot may have been goal bound but was turned in on the line by an ailing defender to send us wild with delight! Our total domination continued as we soon extended our lead. A mad goalmouth scramble saw shots blocked, bodies fall and woodwork rattled before eventually Steve claimed his hat trick with a scuffed left foot shot that trickled through the massed area in to the net.

With only a few minutes remaining we knew the game was safe but were given a scare when Shark in the net rushed out of goal and performed his speciality fresh air kick that allowed the Wednesday striker to net in to an empty target. We held on with relative ease though to record a 4-3 win before making a quick dash down the M1 to get showered in the Chesterfield away end!

Meanwhile we are still on the look out for new players in all positions. If you have regular access to the internet and are a decent player then we are looking to hear from you. Check out our forum at www.internetmillers.co.uk for more details. We are also on the look out for new fans as well, so feel free to check our site and come along to games.

Our next fixture will be at Nottingham Forest on 17th September before we go and watch the boys at the City Ground for the afternoon game.
