Comments on Opposition

There have been frequent meetings between the two sides in recent years. The first experience of playing Huddersfield was in the 02-03 season and a very strong squad impressed with a 7-1 victory. Steve got an hat-trick and others in the team chipped in to signal our intentions for what turned out to be a successful WorldNet competition. The most recent game came in a fixture that was classed as a league and cup game. The Internet Millers won that game 6-3 with Jebu this time notching a hat trick. His second goal being the most memorable as he broke through the Terriers defence and cut inside to curl a screamer into the top corner from 30 yards.

Overall the Huddersfield team are a good set of lads that epitomize the ideals of the IFA. They are guaranteed to give 100% effort. If the goalkeeper that played last time is in the net then it will not be an easy task to score. They have a couple of old heads at the back that can put in a strong challenge, but they are sometimes vulnerable to pace.

Squad Comments

A decent squad will travel to Hudds. Denti and Chris Cope will be at a wedding, which will leave us a little stretched at the back because Paul Elliott and Lee will also be missing as they are on holiday. Mark will make his full debut for IM after being stretchered off in a tournament in Grimsby; many players who witnessed his performance in that match are enthusiastic about having him in the squad.

Other absentees are Johnny and Dazza. This leaves the squad without their influential fitness coach and warm-up guru. Chris Grist is not available so the strikers only have one young lad breathing down their necks this week. Chappell is also missing because he is as loyal as ever and following the Millers at Reading.

The good news for the squad is Andy Parker and Gaz will return after some superb performances at WorldNet, and this will provide some strength in midfield. Dave will come in to help strengthen the defence.

Despite the defensive losses we are confident in the ability of the squad to cover the losses, Mark will start in the net, Dan will come in at CB and partner the hard working Duds. Dave will be using his experience in the sweeper role. Mark will be available so all 4 defenders will be used through the game as we take advantage of rolling subs. Midfield is very strong with Adis, Gaz and Andy having good fitness levels and work-rate, John will be looking to build on his solid 15 minutes against Sheffield United. Bash will be looking to keep his rehabilitation going with his on-field time increasing and Symon will get time up front after waiting patiently over the last few games.

Steve has been suffering from a bad cold this week and has only just started to recover so his time on the field may be reduced, Jebu will looking to add to his tally as the front two chase the target of 100 IM goals, having only scored 1 between them at Sheff Utd, they are currently on 96.

Pre Match Comments

The squad list this week makes the formation decision easy for the management team. The inclusion of many central players means the favoured 3-5-2 can be used all game. The 4 centre back’s will be rotated through the game with Mark only just returning from injury Dan, Duds and Dave will start. Symon and Andy P will start as wingbacks and Steve R and Gaz will play in the center of midfield. Adis occupies the treasured position behind the front two and Steve and Jebu will start up front.

The management team have been in consultation with each other all week and Skip has approved the final plans. Substitutions will be made on 30, 45, 60 and 80 minutes so everyone involved will get a lot of time on the field. A few players have little knocks so it will be important to use the subs to keep everyone fresh.

We are confident we can keep our 100% record going, however we need to put our chances away early while being tight at the back. If we give Huddersfield chance they will put us under pressure. We do not need the drama of a last minute winner again this week. The strikers owe a good performance in front of goal after being lackluster recently.

As a team we have a real chance of success this year and should not think twice about putting together a real title challenge. It is important to make sure we win tough away games such as these so when we play Millwall and Watford we know we have a top of the table clash to look forward to.

Lets do the business!
