Rotherham scored six away from home for the second time this season on an afternoon of delight for former Burnley stars Alan Lee and John Mullin.
Striker Lee and midfielder Mullin shared the first four goals as Rotherham ran rings around Burnley's poor defence.
Burnley skipper Steve Davis scored twice in five minutes to offer a glimmer of hope but two late goals from substitute Darren Byfield secured a great win for the Yorkshire side.
It was no surprise that Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore was all smiles afterwards.
"It was a great day at the office, what more can I say. I thought we were magnificent and fully deserved our win.
"To go to Ipswich and win last week and then come here and score six is even better still. It's the best we have played for a long time." Burnley boss Stan Ternent, who sold both Lee and Mullin to Rotherham, struggled to explain the reasons behind a miserable home performance.
"The players have done really well for us this season but every now and again we throw one in like that and there's no logic to it.
"We were all over the place in the first half and it was very poor. We tried to give it a go after the break but we were always going to be susceptible to the counter attack." Lee headed home a Mullin corner in the tenth minute before Mullins scored twice in two minutes to give Rotherham a comfortable half-time lead.
Lee made the most of another gift chance on the hour and although Davis tried to launch a one-man fightback, Byfield had the final say with a brace all of his own.
