Millers 2-2 Northampton

Last updated : 23 November 2010 By Deano

The Millers have now drawn half their league fixtures at Don Valley this season and after good wins for Port Vale, Bury and Shrewsbury, lost ground at the top end of the division.

All the lively action was in the first period as the Millers raced into a two goal lead.

Ryan Taylor gave them the lead on just four minutes when he got on the end of Adam Le Fondre's flick to cooly lob keeper Chris Dunn from 20 yards.

And the lead was doubled when livewire Marcus Marshall cut inside, saw his first effort blocked but made no mistake with the left footed follow up, a rasping drive into the net from just inside the area.

Marshall proved the best outlet for the Millers on the night, but they were pegged back by two goals in a minute shortly afterwards.

The first came as Ryan Gilligan's low free-kick was scrambled in by Abdul Osman and Andy Holt caught Danny Coid out of position to race through and hammer in the equaliser with his left foot straight from the restart.

Leon McKenzie could have given the visitors the lead before half time but he headed over Jamie Annerson's crossbar from close range.

A forgettable second period saw Annerson save from Craig King and Nicky Law go close at the other end with a chipped effort.

Le Fondre also tested Dunn with ten minutes left, but the stopper got down smartly to gather his low drive as the game petered out.
